Caixin Summit is a flagship event series under Caixin Media. It is one of the most influential and forward-looking economic events linking China and the world. 2011 saw successful Caixin Summits in Beijing, Washington, New York, Sydney, St. Petersburg and Hong Kong.

The 2011 Caixin WEF Breakfast Meeting, on “China’s Opportunities through the Twelfth Five Year Plan,” featured academic and corporate leaders including Nobel Prize-winning economist Dr. Joseph Stiglitz; Dr. Stephen Roach, Chairman of Morgan Stanley Asia; Dr. Yongding Yu, head of the Institute of World Economics and Politics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Laura Cha, HSBC Vice Chairman; Weiying Zhang, Professor at Peking University Guanghua School of Management; and COSCO President Jiafu Wei. Nearly a hundred global champions attended the meeting and shared their visions on China’s potential path toward change.

Looking to 2012, global political power shifts are entering a dramatic period. Taiwan’s elections in January will impact the cross-strait relationship. Hong Kong’s elections in March will produce a new Chief Executive—and test the practice of “One Nation, Two systems” and “Rule of Hong Kong by the people of Hong Kong.” The 18th CPC session will conclude in the second half of the year, with impacts that could play out for generations. Meanwhile, presidential elections are on tap in the U.S., Russia and France. How will the political cycle interact with the economic cycle? What key issues paint the current economic, financial and social picture in China, and globally? We look forward to addressing these questions with our audience.
