Damian Lynch studied at the University of Queensland where he obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree with Honors. He then worked as a solicitor for three years in Brisbane at the law firm Clayton Utz in the insurance litigation area. Following that he spent four years working as in house legal counsel at two investment banks based in London (West Merchant Bank and Lazard Brothers before returning to Australia in 1996 to commence his career in insurance underwriting. He started with Chubb Sydney in their Department of Financial Institutions and stayed there for thirteen years, by which time he was the Asia Pacific Head of Financial Institutions business. In 2009 he moved to Zurich Sydney and in 2012 moved to Singapore with Zurich, where his current role includes responsibility for Financial Institutions and Directors and Officers business throughout Asia Pacific.

CEO,Willis Global Captive Practice

Paul is a Graduate Chartered Accountant having qualified with Arthur Young, one of the founding partnerships of Ernst & Young. After Qualifying he worked for Goldman Sachs in London establishing various operations and back office functions. After a short spell at British & Commonwealth, in 1990 he joined the Willis Faber & Dumas Group initially in the Group Finance function.

In 1996 he was appointed as Finance Director for the UK retail operation before taking on responsibility for Operations as Chief Operating Officer. During this period he was responsible for the Insolvency division, Motor initiatives and Claims.

In 2000, Paul returned to a Group role undertaking various projects and helped establish the central placement function.

After filling the North America CFO role, on an interim basis, Paul was appointed as Chief Operating Officer of the Global Specialties division in 2005, and in 2011 joined the Willis Limited Board as COO. In addition to his regulatory and operational responsibilities he is the relationship Director for a number of strategic carriers.

On 1 January 2014 Paul was appointed to the newly created role of CEO Global Captive Management, bringing all of the Group’s captive operations together under one management structure. He also retains a number of other roles including directorships of a number of regulated entities.
