Dr. Huan is CEO of Primus Pacific Partners Ltd, and GCS Capital Ltd, Asian financial service sectors focused private equity funds. He is also an Independent Board Director at Beijing Environment Group.
During his 35 years banking and investment career, Dr. Huan has held many senior global banking positions including Head of Investment Banking, Asia-Pacific of HSBC Group, Co-Head of Investment Banking, Asia-Pacific of Citigroup, and Managing Director, Head of Great China with BZW, Barclays Bank, and Senior Economist at JP Morgan. Dr. Huan was also a Board Director of Qatar Financial Center, Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council of the U.S., Research Fellow at Brookings Institution, Assistant Professor at Columbia University, and John Olin Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Center for International and Strategic Studies, Harvard University.
Dr. Huan led many landmark investment banking, capital markets, strategic investment, and private equity transactions, including investments made by HSBC Group in Bank of Communications (US$3 bln), Ping-an Insurance (US$1.5 bln), and Bank of Shanghai (US$200 mln), Bank of America’s investment in CCB (US$3 bln), Temasek’s investments in CCB (US$1 bln), BOC (US$2 bln), and New China Life (US$200 mln), Standard Charters Bank’s investment in New China Life (US$200 mln), investments by QIA and KIA in ICBC(US$500 mln), ABC (US$3.6 bln), and Citic Securities (US$200 mln), Softbank, GIC, Tokyo Marine, and Meiji Life in Great China region.
Dr. Huan holds a Ph.D. degree from Princeton University and two M.A. degrees from Columbia University and the University of Denver, respectively. He also studied a Master program at the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Beijing, China.
Dr. Huan is a published author of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, and many other publications.
