Education:

Masters in Economics from the University of Geneva and

Doctorate in Political Science at the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva.

Ambassador of Switzerland to China, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and Mongolia with Residence in Beijing (2014, Feb – present)

Past Experience:

Permanent Delegate of Swiss Confederation to United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) (2013)

Ambassador of Switzerland to France and the Principality of Monaco (2011)

Ambassador of Switzerland to Kingdom of Belgium and Head of Swiss Mission to NATO (2007 – 2011)

Head of Political Affairs Division 1 (Europe, Council of Europe, OSCE) (2004)

Headed to Euro-Atlantic Security Section of the Political Directorate in Berne, then the Centre for International Security Policy (CISP) of the Swiss MFA (2001 – 2004)

Ambassador to the International Francophone Organization in Paris (1998 – 2000)

Minister of the Swiss Embassy in France (1996 – 1998)

Deputy Head of Mission in Canberra (1993 – 1996)

Political Counsellor, in charge of politico-military affairs in Washington (1989 – 1993)

Foreign policy speechwriter of the President of the Swiss Confederation (1983 – 1989)

Joined the Swiss diplomatic service, appointed as Regional Officer for Warsaw Pact countries, and then West and Southern European Countries (1981 – 1982)

Secretary-Jurist at the ICRC and the Diplomatic Conference on the Development of Humanitarian Law (1976 – 1977)
